In Share a DJ AM Memory
Let’s take it back shall we? It was around 2003, i had just moved back from Scottsdale AZ to Zuni NM. I moved back home to help with some family obligations, but tried my hardest to keep in track with the music scene via internet. One night I caught an interview of Jim Carrey (or another celeb but I vaguely remember Jim) on E! He mentioned that his DJ was AM, helping him celebrate his birthday. Next day I did some research and found DJ AM’s old website (turntable layout, which was cool!). It was a bit tricky to navigate but I was able to download the infamous Lindsey Lohan Birthday Mix. Blew my mind!!!!! As a mobile DJ at the time this gave me mad confidence that “if they can sway to this, then they can sway to that” I played this mix for friends and family that to this day still say...” I remember that mix with Bob Marley, De La Soul, Nu Shooz, etc...“ Being from a remote location like NM, it was hard to get to see him live since most shows were in LA, LV, NY and literally everywhere except NM. I finally had booked a week to catch him in Tempe the week of my Bday, but AM left us early. I have most of AM mixes that were released via Banana Spilt, DJ AM.com and other sites that I still play to this day.. AM was beyond his time. #RIP
